Behind the Scenes: Blogtrottr's Getting an Upgrade

EDIT (January 20, 2025): The beta version is now live at blogtrottr.com. A big thank you to everyone who participated in the testing and provided feedback.

I’m pleased to announce that a new version of the Blogtrottr website is in development and is now available as an open beta for any users who might like to get an early look.

This update mostly focuses on modernising the platform's foundations. While you might not see dramatic changes on the surface yet, there have been significant improvements under the hood that will pave the way for new features in the future.

The new version will move out of beta in the next couple of months, and you can find it at beta.blogtrottr.com

  1. Is there any way to move existing feeds to beta?

  2. It's all hooked up to the same data, so you should be able to log in to the beta with your usual account and manage your exisiting feeds.

  3. Oh! I didn't see the login area. It's hidden inside the hamburger menu. If you are looking for feedback for the beta version, may I suggest the login window be more prominent?

  4. ‘Paused’ is missing in the Schedule column.

  5. Paused subscriptions should be grayed out in the subscriptions table to indicate that they're not running, but it sounds like perhaps the effect isn't obvious enough. Thanks for the feedback.

    2. Persistent sort order sounds like a nice enhancement to have, I've added that to the list too now.

  6. Thanks for the open beta! And thanks for the possibility to leave feedback:
    - Previously, one could sort pretty much by anything, now it seems to be limited to Name and Added. However, i always liked to be able to sort by latest Update. (Makes it easier to see old/dead subscriptions.) Any chance you could add this back?
    - Also, the mouse cursor doesn't change to a pointer, not indicating it's even possible to sort at all.
    - Previously one could see the total number of subscriptions at the end of the list. This info is now missing.
    Thanks!
